Adline Early Woods, 79, of Newton passed away Sunday, March 19th, 2023 in her home. Born, May 12th, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Cleveland Free and Kathleen Free. She was self-employed as a housekeeper. She played the piano for her church for 40 plus years and sang in multiple choirs. She was a singer in a rock & roll band. She also loved to make floral arrangements and to cook meals for her family and others. She also was very knowledgeable with her family tree and always made sure the family knew who they were kin to.
She is survived by two sons, Brian Early of Conover, and William Early (Phlicia) of Conover; a daughter, Alesia Peterson (David) of Conover; a brother, George Free (Vernita) of Charlotte; a sister, Joann McGlown (Albert) of Newton; fourteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Cleveland and Kathleen Free she is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Robert Woods; three siblings, Phillip "June" Early, Cleveland “TB” Free, Jr., and Harold Covington.
The family will receive friends from 1-2PM, Tuesday, March 28th, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home, followed by the service at 2PM in Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Dr. Alexis T. Stone.
There will be a meal in Jenkins Celebration Center following the service.
