Alice Sue Mace Smith, 67 of Rock Barn Road, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born June 5, 1939 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late William Horace and Sula Ethel Campbell Mace. She was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship where she was the secretary and treasurer and a former Sunday school teacher. An avid gardener, she was a former receptionist for the town of Catawba Police Department and was a self-employed accountant. Survivors are two sons, Kelly J. Shook of Newton and Bud Shook and wife Lydia of Granite Falls; two brothers, Jink L. Mace of Hickory and Rev. Ted S. and wife Janet Mace of Newton and three grandchildren, Aaron N. Shook, T. Alex Bailey and Savannah A. Shook. A sister, Joann Sherrill preceded her in death. A celebration of Sueâ??s life will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. Her brother, Pastor Ted S. Mace will officiate. Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Steve Burns, Billy Jones, Aaron Shook, Alex Bailey, Ron Mace and Benny Fulbright.
