Alma Leinbach

October 21, 1921 — December 8, 2011

Alma Bernice Wagoner Leinbach, 90, of Newton, passed away December 8th at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba County. She was born Oct. 21, 1921 in Catawba County to the late B.F. and Jennie Barringer Wagoner. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dr. Rev. Roy E. Leinbach, Jr., her son, Roy William (Bill) Leinbach and her sister, Margaret Wagoner Davis. She is survived by her children, Linda L. Ferguson and her husband John of Plymouth, MI, Nancy L. Laimbeer, of the home, Kathy L. Frye and her husband, Keith of Vale, NC; her grandchildren, Jeffrey S. Johnson (Beth) of Lewis Center, OH, Jennifer L. Bossler (Joe) of Wernersville, PA, Jonathan W. Laimbeer of Plymouth, MI and Emily L. Frye of Vale, NC; 4 great grandchildren and a niece and nephews. She graduated from Catawba College in 1943 and married Roy that same year. They were married for 49 years. They served several congregations where she was actively involved, including being the secretary and pianist/organist and choir director for 25 years. She taught Language Arts at Mountain View, Startown and finally Blackburn Middle School where she retired in 1987. Alma touched the lives of many as a wife, mother,aunt, ?Grandmama?, ?Gram?, ?Gamma? and ?G G?. She was a woman of deep faith. She was a sweet and gentle soul with a strong will. All who knew her loved this gracious lady. She loved music, plays, reading, gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting, ceramics and painting with oils and watercolors. A Celebration of Life and Worship service will be 11:30 Saturday, December 10, 2011 at St. Paul?s Reformed Church in Newton. The Rev. Dr. Stephen Disher and Rev. Larry Bolick will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the church. Private inurnment will be at Abernethy Laurels at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson?s Foundation, 710 West 168th Street New York, NY 10032; St. Paul?s Reformed Church Organ Fund, 3562 Startown Road Newton, NC 28658 and Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
