Alter Conley “AC” Eller, another soldier in God’s Army went to be with the Lord, Saturday April 11, 2009. Born May 9, 1928 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late George and Bessie Woodie Eller. He married Katie Ruth Smith from Cramerton, NC September 13, 1947. She has been his “Sweet Heart” for 61 years. AC was owner and operator of Eller Frames, Inc for 33 years. He has been a devoted servant in each church he attended, East Hickory Church of God, Huntington Hills Church of God and most recently, Hickory Pentecostal Holiness Church. Having been the “Rock” for his entire family, his memory will be cherished by his wife, Katie S. Eller of the home; two daughters, Darlene Pipes and husband Billy of Hickory and Diane Holt of Newton; five grandchildren, Daren Blankenship and wife Tammy of New York, Melody Holt of Morganton, Heather Lawson and husband Thomas of Charlotte, Amber Eller of Maiden and Justin Eller of Newton. His 12 grandchildren were the joy of his heart. They are Damian and Keegan Blankenship of Hickory, Joelle and Conley Blankenship of New York, Kelsey, Sarah and Jonathon Palmer of Morganton, Katie and Simon Lawson of Charlotte, Katelyn Eller and Carissa Montgomery of Maiden and Jocelyn Eller of Newton. Two brothers, Harold Eller of Virginia Beach, VA and Virgil Eller of Hickory; four sisters, Willa Dean Elliot and Vivian Williams of Hickory, Linda Goforth of Claremont and Doris Dillon of Conover also survive him. In addition to his parents, a brother, Dayton Eller; a sister Gladys Hollifield and a beloved son, Chris Eller preceded him in death. AC’s family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Catawba Valley Medical Center and Abernethy Laurels for the wonderful compassionate care he received during his extended illness. They were all “family” to us. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Jenkins Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Yarborough officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hickory Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 261 21st Street SE Hickory 28602.
