Alton Roberts

Alton "Gene" Roberts, 90, of Conover died Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Catawba Valley Living at Rock Barn. Born August 10th, 1932 he was the son of the late Guy Henderson Roberts and Ola Elliott Roberts. Alton served in the United States Army from 1950-1954 where he served in Korea, after serving in the Army, he returned home to work in the furniture industry owning several furniture companies. He was loved by so many people. Alton also volunteered with Hospice after his wife passed in 2012 and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Catawba Valley Nursing Home for their loving care for "Papa" over the last year.

His daughters, Sandra (Daniel) Bixby and Pattie Roberts; his brothers, Charles Roberts and David (Joyce) Roberts; grandchildren, Karmen (Brian) Lawing and Rebecca Stobbe and great-grandchildren, Wendell Lawing, Quinn Lawing and Henley Stobbe survive him.

In addition to his parents, his wife of sixty one years, Betty Bumgarner Roberts; his brother, Guy (Jack) Roberts and his sister, Evangeline (Roberts) Harrison preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday October 9, 2022 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Correll officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
