Alvin Seitz

Alvin Franklin Seitz, 87 of Newton died Saturday March 15th, 2014 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born May 13th, 1926. He was the son of the late George Philip Seitz and Edna Alberta Burris Seitz. He worked for Biltmore Dairy for nearly 25 years and retired from National Linen with over 30 years of service. He was US Navy Veteran serving as a Naval mechanic stationed at Deland, Florida. He had a mind of an engineer and could build or fix anything. His wife of 69 years, Betty Lucille Poovey Seitz of the home; two daughters, Edna Lorraine Seitz Rhoney and husband Steve of Vale, NC and Patty Lynn Seitz Greenhill and husband Tommy Lee of Hickory; a sister, Nancy Hefner of Newton; a sister-in-law, Sara Seitz of Hickory; three grandchildren, Tamela Rhoney Joyce and husband Jason of Jackson Springs, NC, Dana Greenhill Harake and husband Bilal of Santa Barabara, CA, Jason Greenhill and wife Sarah of Grosse Pointe Shores, MI; four great grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Joanna and Jordan Joyce survive him. An infant daughter, Sarah Jane Seitz; a sister, Helen Yount, a brother, Howard Seitz; two brothers-in-law, Larry Dean Hefner and Carlie Yount and two great grandchildren preceded him in death. The Celebration of Alvin's Life and Worship Service will be 11:00 am Thursday March 20th, 2014 at Old St Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Sain officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service Thursday March 20th, 2014 at the church.
