Alyssa Tompkins

Alyssa Renee Tompkins, 9 of Lincolnton died Sunday, July 17th, 2016 at Levine Children's Hospital. Born January 30th, 2007, she was the daughter of Jeffrey Tompkins and the late Christy Carter. She was a rising fourth grade student at Battleground Elementary School in Lincolnton. She loved Sunday school, swimming, crafts, butterflies, jewelry and life in general. Her father and step mother, Jeffrey and Cindy Tompkins of Lincolnton; five brothers, Bradley Tompkins of Conover, Matt Tompkins of Statesville, Nicholas Tompkins of Lincolnton, Tyler Tompkins of WV and Elijah Tompkins of Lincolnton; a sister, Kaylie Ortega of Longview TX; two step sisters, Laura Huffman of Lincolnton, Julie Huffman of Lincolnton, two step brothers; David Huffman of Lincolnton and Richard Huffman of Maiden; maternal grandmother, Sherene Carter of Arden, NC; maternal grandfather, John Carter of Linden, TX; paternal grandparents, Radford and Beatrice Tompkins of Pound, VA and one aunt, Shannon Thompson of Abbingdon, VA; two uncles, Reuben Tompkins of Pound, VA and Robert Carter and wife Amanda of Arden, NC and three cousins, Robbie Carter, Blake Lawson and Jade Lawson survive her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Christy Lyn Carter. The funeral will be 2:00 pm Friday, July 22nd, 2016 at the Chapel of Jenkins Funeral Home with Pastor Marie Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 pm Thursday, July 21st, 2016 at Jenkins Funeral Home.
