Amber Nelon Kistler, age 35, of Carrollton, GA went to be with her Lord and Savior July 26, 2024. She was joined in her heavenly ascent by her husband, Nathan, and mother and father, Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark.
Amber was the granddaughter of Gospel Music Hall of Famer Rex Nelon and along with her Gospel Music Hall of Fame mother, Kelly Nelon Clark, sister, Autumn Nelon Streetman, and father Jason Clark, did her part to continue the family legacy in Christian music. Joining her family's group, the grammy nominated Dove award winning, Gospel Music Hall of Fame, The Nelons at the age of 12, Amber was recognized as one of the brightest young stars in the industry, taking home awards for AGM's Female Vocalist of the Year and the Singing News' Best Young Artist, and as the Dove Awards' youngest ever nominee.
Amber auditioned for the popular television show "American Idol," but was sent home after she refused to compromise her convictions to fit the mold of a universal pop star. Everyone who met Amber instantly fell in love with her, because God’s light was always shining out of her. She was intelligent, smart, funny, quick witted, and a joy to her family and friends. She had a love for Disney, and used every opportunity to visit the parks. She was beautiful inside and out, and we miss her greatly.
Preceded in death by her father Jerry Thompson, grandmother Shirley Nelon, grandfather Rex Nelon, grandfather Clarance Thompson, grandmother Alice Thompson. Survived by sister Autumn (Jamie) Nelon Clark Streetman, of Nashville, TN, uncle and aunt Todd (Rhonda) Nelon of Powder Springs, GA, Jordan (Paige) Nelon of Dallas, GA, Ashley (Logan) Nelon Craft of Orlando, FL, Shelby (Hudson Brett) Nelon of Johns Creek, GA, Jack Nelon, Brooks Craft, Landon Clark, Lilianna Clark, Annalyse Clark, brother-in-law Danny Joe (Chery) of Littlestown, PA, grandparents Danny (Linda) Clark of Roopville, GA step grandmother Judy Nelon of Franklin, TN, and numerous cousins.
