Annie Christine Starr Clanton, 74 died Friday, August 14, 2009 at Carolinaâ??s Medical Center in Charlotte. Born, February 18, 1935 to the late William Hester & Martha Canipe Smith Starr, in Burke County, NC. â??Christineâ? worked in private nursing and Bi-Lo for many years. A daughter, Deborah Anita Hosford of Newton, NC; a sister; Rachel Louise Watts of Las Vegas, NV; a half-brother, William Eugene Starr of Newton, NC, a grandson & a great-grandchild survive her. Her husband, William David Clanton precedes her in death. A Celebration of Christineâ??s life will take place on Monday, August 17, 2009, 11 am at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel on Startown Road in Newton. Pastor Don Sigmon of Eastside Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Startown/Jenkins Cemetery on Startown Road in Newton. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 16, 2009 from 7-9 pm at Jenkins Funeral Home.
