Annie Janet Woody Underwood, 87, of Newton passed away Friday, June 1st, 2018 at Abernethy Laurels. Born September 2nd, 1930 she was the daughter of the late John C. and Lillie Woody. Annie was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother. She is singing with the Angels and will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband of 64 years William Larry Underwood; her son William Laran Underwood and wife Jamie of Bessemer, AL., two sisters Jewel Thomas of Bakersville, Barbara McDaniel and husband D.C. of Hickory; a brother Ivan Woody and wife Erllene of Morganton; sister in law Zula Mae of Burnsville; three grandchildren William Lee Underwood and wife Jennifer, Isaiah J. Lightfoot- Underwood, Cora M. Lightfoot-Underwood; and 3 great grandchildren Gracie, Myia, and Daniel survive her.
In addition to her parents; four brothers Gem Woody, Van Woody, Ward Woody, J.C. Woody and a sister Madge Keaton preceded her in death.
The funeral will be 2:00pm Tuesday, June 5th, 2018 at East Maiden Baptist Church with Pastor Nathaniel Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm Tuesday, June 5th, 2018 at East Maiden Baptist Church.
