Argene Hunter

Biography Argene Lou Green Hunter , 87 passed away peacefully to be with the Lord Monday, June 25, 2012 at Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley, Newton, North Carolina. Born to the late Anna Lucinda Underhill Green and Charles William Green January 17, 1925 in Lansing, Michigan. Argene was a active member of First Christian Church of Arcadia, Florida and attended First United Methodist Church of Conover, North Carolina for the past 3 years. Mrs. Hunter retired many times from occupations ranging from delivering Army trucks to ships during WWII, Real Estate and Insurance Agent, Administrative Assistant for many corporations with the last being the U.S. Government. She lived and worked in numerous places throughout the U.S. and Europe. Argene loved playing Bridge, reading, traveling, swimming and golf. She married Don L. Hunter in 1943. The couple were married 59 years and bore three children. Their family was raised in Pigeon, Michigan. The couple later retired to Arcadia Florida where she resided for more than 20 years before moving to Newton, N.C. Argene is survived by two of her children , Patrick William Hunter (Lana) of Coldwater, Michigan, and Mary Anna Hunter Miller (Leonard) of Newton, N.C. and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard Earl Green, husband Don and son Michael Don Hunter. A grave side service will be Monday, July 9, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan, where she will be buried next to her husband. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church of Conover, North Carolina, Circle-2 Mission Fund, P.O. Box 235 Conover, NC 28613.
