Arthur Propst

August 28, 1942 — December 31, 2014

Pastor Arthur David Propst, 72 of Conover died Wednesday, December 31st, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born August 28th, 1942, he was the son of Nolan J. Propst and Francis E. Ramsuer Propst. An avid musician, he supported various churches as a minister of music and choir director. He directed choirs, including the 100 Voices, Ordinary People and Stars of Faith and a host of others. He was employed as a supervisor and plant manager at Carolina Foam Company. After retirement, he focused on his ministry and founded True Word Church of Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith where he served as Senior Pastor for seven years. During this time he continued to be active in the community in his service to the Lord and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His wife, Martha Propst; three daughters, Monica Arias husband Alonso of Taylorsville and Regina Propst-Bennett and husband Ronald of Taylorsville and Elizabeth Gonsalves of Chula Vista, CA; a son, Minister Ryan Kirby and wife Cindy of Conover; 11 grandchildren, Nicholas, Jeremy, Alex, Marlayna, Nola, Isaiah, Stephen, Sarah, Levi, Lilly and James; two great grandchildren, Eli and Brooklyn Grace; an aunt, Savannah Ramsuer; two special cousins, Vanessa Ramsuer and Charlene Jenkins; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins survive him. In addition to his parents, two brothers, William and Kenneth Propst and a sister, Bernice Propst Summers preceded him in death. The funeral will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 7th, 2015 at Rhoney's Chapel AME Zion Church in Newton with Rev. Emanuel Bonaparte and Rev. Gloria Easter officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olin AME Zion Church Cemetery in Newton. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 pm Wednesday, January 7th, 2015 at the church.
