Barbara (Barbie) Ann Travis Hollar, 62, of Maiden gained her heavenly wings on Saturday, December 24, 2022. She passed away after a short illness at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born July 2nd, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Henry Olin Travis and Margaret Ellen Tucker Travis. She is survived by her husband Pastor Charles Clinton Hollar, Jr.
Barbara was a devout Christian and was a member of "God Restores Ministries" Church where she loved to sing and play piano. She was called to missionary work and traveled to Trinidad to share her love of Jesus Christ while working to better the lives of citizens of that country. Her hobbies included fishing and being a member of the Catawba County Seniors Morning Out group. She enjoyed attending services and special events at many churches throughout the county.
She retired from Hickory Manufacturing / Hickory White after working in the finishing room for over a decade.
She was preceded in death by her brother Alfred "Al" William Travis. In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her sisters: Betty Lou Travis Buff of Hickory; Jennie Ellen Travis Ritch of Lenoir; and Elizabeth Louise Travis Turner of Hickory; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Pallbearers are: Tammy Stringfield, Michael Buff, Jamie Buff, Sherman Ritch, Joshua DeFrank, Joey Sigmon, Ricky West and Gary Rhinehardt.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:45 PM on January 5th, 2023, at Jenkins Funeral Home Celebration Center.
The funeral will be 2:00 PM on January 5th, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Webb, Sister Rita Pritchard, and Bishop Michael Roland officiating. Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jenkins Funeral Home of Newton to help with funeral expenses.
