Barry Parker

Barry Martin Parker 63 of Hickory passed away Wednesday April 17, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born February 8, 1950 he was the son of the late Bryce Parker and Zelta Raye Parker. Barry retired from the furniture industry from Baker Furniture and previously worked with Hickory Chair for 23 years. He was an avid cook, fisherman and camper. He was a loving and attentive man to his family and friends. His wife of 27 years, Debbie Harrelson Parker of the home; two daughters, Shannon Shuffler of Winston-Salem and Jennifer Cervantes and husband Justin of North Wilkesboro; a son, Chris Penley of Hickory; two brothers in law, Edward Bradley Harrelson and wife Joanne of Phoenix, AZ and Raymond Larry Harrelson and wife Sammie Jo of Hoschton, GA; four grandchildren, Hunter, Aspen, Grant and Alexa survive him. The funeral service will be 3:00 pm Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Stines officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm -3:00 pm Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
