Benjamin Ortega

Benjamin Rivera Ortega, 51 of Hiddenite died Thursday, July 24th, 2014 at Gordon House Hospice in Statesville. Born March 28th, 1963 he was the son of the late Bonifacio Rivera Hernandez and Nicolasa Ortega Uvalle. He was a certified welder. Three sons, Kevin Adam Ortega of Conover, Brandon Scott Ortega of Newton and Randy Lee Ortega of Conover; his former wife, Ethel Last of Newton; a grand-daughter, Lorilai DeWitt-Ortega of Newton; eight sisters, Adelaida, Lorenza, Maria, Guadalupe, Antonia, Victoria, Cristina and Nicolasa; three brothers, Cirilo, Jose Cruz and Juan; numerous nieces and nephews survive him. In addition to his parents, a son, Benjamin James "BJ" Ortega preceded him in death. The funeral will be 2:00 pm Monday, July 28th, 2014 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Sifredo Rivera officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
