Betty Bennett

Betty Estella Strunk Bennett, 95, of Charlotte died Monday, September 24, 2018 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton, NC.  Born September 30, 1922 in Detroit, MI, she was the only child of Fred and Stella Jane Heverly Strunk.  She worked for Belk's in Accounts Payable in the 1960s-80s while enjoying her life as mother to her four children.  She also assisted her husband, John C. Bennett CPA, in his accounting work.  They were married December 1, 1943 until his death in 1981. Before her marriage, she worked at Hudson Motor Car Company in Detroit which made airplanes during WWII.  She loved animals, quilting, good jokes, listening to opera, and Christmas.

Betty is survived by her four children, Gloria Louise Owen, John Richard Bennett (Dian), William Gordon Bennett, and Charlotte Emily Haberyan (Karl). Grandchildren Eric, Nikki, Amy, Jesse, Sarah, Rachel, and Molly also survive her, as well as several great-grandchildren. Her granddaughter, Tiffany Leigh, is with us in our hearts.
