Betty Lail

June 22, 1930 — January 26, 2017

Betty Whisnant Lail, 86, of Vale, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on January 26, 2017. She was born in Catawba County, on June 22, 1930. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and sister. She was a wonderful cook that enjoyed cooking for everyone. She loved her family and life. In her early years, she enjoyed spending time on the lake and at the beach, and in her garden.
Those that passed before her include her husband, Winfield Blake Lail Sr. of 30 years; a daughter, Denise Lail Burgess; a grand-daughter, Alysia Sue Annas; a son-in-law, Ronald Steven Burgess; two brothers, Bill Roper and Bob Roper; and two great grandchildren, Colten Burgess and Peyton Burgess. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Dianne Lail Burgess, Deborah Lail Annas (Daryl), Winfield Blake Lail Jr. (Eric), and Shayla Lail Gaines (Tony); two sisters, Mamie Lee Wilson and Pat Bailey; a special sister-in-law, Betty Jean Roper; grandchildren, Jennifer Fender (Kenneth), Michelle Cheron (Oliver), David Burgess (Patti), Heather Goldman (Rob), Andrew Burgess (Shannon), Christopher Burgess (Stacy), and Betsy Gaines; and 14 great grandchildren. The funeral will be 2:00pm Monday, January 30th, 2017 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Petree officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm -2:00 pm Monday, January 30th, 2017 at Jenkins Funeral Home.   Please sign the online guestbook at www.jenkinsfuneralhome.net.
