Billy Hilliard Bailey, 83 years, passed away July 24, 2018, with his family by his side in Hickory, NC. He was born February 14, 1935, to the late Raymond E. "Tobe" and Edith W. Bailey in Jackson, TN. Bill married Jane Hanafee Mooney on December 27, 1954, in Jackson, TN and they shared a wonderful life together for 63 years.
Billy is preceded in death by his brother, Raymond E. "Toby" Bailey and sister Camille B. Barker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Jane, their four sons and their families. Son, Bill Bailey (Brenda), Michael Bailey, Marc Bailey (Jenny), all of Hickory and son Joe Bailey (Matilda) of Cary, NC.
Grandchildren, Tasha Arnette (Ronnie), Mitch Bailey, Amanda Ward (Nathan), Jacqueline Bailey of Hickory, NC, Lauren Lea (Josh) of Wilmington, NC, Beth Willis (Benjamin) of Davis, NC, Brittany Bailey of New York, Brock Bailey of Cary, NC, Lindsey Dewhurst of Hickory, NC, Kris Fisher, Kadera Dodson (Jeremy) of Cary, NC and Kacee Miller (Ryan) of Charlotte, NC.
Great grandchildren; Madilyn, Hailey, and Nathan Arnette; Francis Bailey; Regan, Bailey & Charley Lea; Milo Friday; Bailey Willis, Janessa Stepantschenko, Jade and Jamison Dodson and Bentley Miller.
Sisters-in-Law, Joann Birmingham of Jackson, TN; Nancy Bennett (Tommy) of Venice, FL, Alice Tutera of Memphis, TN, Beverly Bailey of Jackson, TN, and Gail Mooney. Brothers-in-Law, Joe Mooney (Dawn) of Jackson, TN and Kinzie Barker of Dacaturville, TN.
Bill worked in the hardwood lumber industry and was the Co-owner of Bailco Hardwoods (Hardwood Flooring Center). He was involved with the National Oak Flooring Manufactures Association, Appalachian Lumbermen's Club, National Hardwood Lumber Export Association, and Haywood Technical College Advisory Board.
A special thank you to the Senior Orchard Hills Golf Group and his McDonald's Breakfast Group, which were both very special to him. Also a special thanks to the staff and sitters at Frye Regional Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 28th, 2018, at St. Lukes United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Westfall officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
