Billy Dalton Rhyne, 86, of Lincolnton died Saturday, December 9, 2023 at his residence. Born Sunday, May 9th, 1937 he was the son of the late Cass and Rosalee Rhyne. Billy was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Vale. Billy was involved in the Cooksville Masonic Lodge, the Lincoln County Shrine Club and the National Association of Left-handed Golfers. Bill attended Fred T. Ford High school and was apart of the 1955 graduating class. Bill went on to serve in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman from 1960 to 1962. After leaving the service, Bill worked for many years in the upholstery industry. Bill was an avid golfer throughout his life- a true lover of the game. He was known by many golfers as “Bill Rhyne- the left handed golfer”. He held the club record for low score at the Glen Oaks Golf Club in Maiden. Special thanks to Gloria Washington for her dedication and loving care of “Mr Bill”.
His wife of 66 years, Ann Hoover Rhyne; his daughter, Angie Rhyne Bailey and husband, Stan; his sister, Ailene Jarrett; his nephew, Greg Jarrett and wife, Donna; three grandchildren, Ryan Foriska, Maggie Deal and Raegan Deal; his great-nephew and niece, John Jarrett and Brooke Jarrett and his sister-in-law, Maryann Rhyne survive him.
In addition to his parents, his brother-in-law, Gene Jarrett and his late brother, Colon Rhyne preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, December 15th, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vale with Rev. Tommy Lineberger officiating. The family will receive friends 2:00-2:45 P.M. at the church.
Jenkins Funeral Home staff is not involved in the memorial service at the church.
