Bobby Grindstaff

Bobby Ray Grindstaff, 77 of Newton died January 1st, 2014 at Brian Center East. Born March 31st, 1936 he was the son of Mary Elizabeth Grindstaff and the late Everette Washington Grindstaff. In addition to his mother, Mary Elizabeth Grindstaff of Charlotte; three daughters, Vickie Russell of Newton, Brenda Helton and husband Randy of Hildebran and Linda Clay of Hickory; two step-daughters, Elaine Phillips of Greensboro and Avis Harrison of Waynesville; three sons, Bobby E. Grindstaff of Hickory, Johnny R. Grindstaff of Hickory and Jimmy Grindstaff and wife Denise of Hildebran; a step-son, Marty Ledford of Waynesville; two sisters, Peggy Bane and Shirley Lail, both of Charlotte; grand-children, Lisa Baker Flowers and husband Rick, Israel Russell and fiancé, Elaine Coffey, Jennifer & Jonathan Clay, Christina, Jessica, Steven and Jacob Grindstaff, India Phillips, Crystal Messer; Great grand-children, Ava and Samantha; special friend & adopted grand-daughter, Brianna Hension; and a number of nieces and nephews and cousins survive him. Wife and mother, Lois Hunter Grindstaff; a son, Robbie Grindstaff; a daughter, Baby Laine Grindstaff; a brother, Johnny Edward Grindstaff; a grandson, Doug Russell and son-in-law, Leonard Russell preceded him in death. A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Friday January 3rd, 2014 at Winkler's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Hickory, with Pastor Jimmy Jacobs officiating.
