Bonnie Cearley

Bonnie Messer Cearley 93 of Hickory died Friday, October 20, 2023 at Carolina Caring Hospice. Born October 31st, 1929 she was the daughter of Monroe Howard Messer and Allie Messer. She was a lifelong Baptist and a Sunday School teacher. She and her husband Robert raised three children at Lewisville Baptist Church and were very active in the life of the church.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 72 years, Robert B. Cearley, Jr.; son, Thomas W. Cearley and wife Carol of Lincolnton, NC; daughter, Beth Hill and husband Thomas R. Hill, MD of Southern Pines and Newland, NC; and daughter in law, Charlotte Cushing Cearley of Montgomery, AL; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Timothy D. Cearley of Montgomery, AL, a career missionary of Africa with International Mission Board; parents, Monroe Howard Messer and Allie Henson Messer; four sisters, Mary Hunter, Sarah Prior, Pauline McEwen, and Shirley; and six brothers, George, William (Bill), Jack, Jim, Robert (Trix) and Joe.
