On November 7, 2020, Bruce Thomas Pattengale, loving husband and father of 3 children, passed away at the age of 89 from a long term pulmonary disease. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
Bruce was born on February 28, 1931 along with his twin sister Barbara in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Armen (Pat) Pattengale and Josephine Pattengale.
He served in the United Sates Navy from 1950-1954. He served on the USS Wisconsin BB64, the USS Trout (SS566), and attended the USN Submarine School in New London, Connecticut.
On January 13, 1962 he married Eleanor A. Maglio raising 3 children in the suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They relocated to Iron Station, North Carolina for several years and then moved back to Wisconsin again to be near family. They did however, inevitably move back to North Carolina so that their youngest daughter and husband could assist with their care.
Bruce worked at General Motors for 30 years as a millwright and was very fortunate to retire at the age of 49. He spent his retirement years enjoying his grandchildren, hunting, and whatever he chose to do.
Bruce was preceded in death by his late father Armen (Pat) Pattengale, Mother Josephine Pattengale, and his brother Fred Pattengale.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor (Ellie) A. Pattengale and 3 Children Jeff Grootemaat, Christine (Timothy) Schmidt, and Bonnie (Ronald) Eury; Sisters Doris Schurrer, and Barbara Boulieu;
Multiple grandchildren Lisa Grootemaat, Dennis (Laura) Schmidt, Lori (Dave) Mulsoff, Amy (Joey) Schmidt, Bryan (Amanda) Schmidt, Brandon (Molly) Froehlich, Brittny (Earl) Locklear, Ronald Eury lll, and Lianna Eury and countless great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Bruce will lie in state from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm Thursday, November 12th, 2020 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Funeral Service starting around 4:00 pm.
Friends and Family will be welcome to attend the service on-line (Jenkins Funeral Home Facebook Live) that will be available to view for those who are unable to attend in person due to COVID 19, distance, or other reasons.
