Carl Golden

Carl Domenick Golden, age 86 of Hickory passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2015. A Celebration of Carl's Life will be held from 1-4:00 pm Saturday September 12, 2015 at Catawba Country Club. Carl was born April 23, 1929 in Bronx, NY to Carl and Muriel Golden. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Florence; and a brother in law, Paul Assaiante. He is survived by his wife, Kay Golden of the home; a brother, Joe Golden of Hutchinson Island, Fla; two sisters, Annette Golden of Greenport, NY and Delores DeGeso and husband Alfred of Manorville, NY; two sons, Peter Golden and wife Tami of Pinehurst, NC and Chris Golden and wife Ruth of Dothan, Alabama; a step daughter, Michele Cataldi and husband Phil of Annapolis, MD; and three grand-sons, Stephen Golden and wife Kristena of Cape Carteret, NC and Jake & Josh Golden, both of Dothan, Alabama. Carl attended N.Y. City College and Parson's Institute of Design. He was employed as an Upholstery Fabric Representative. Carl was an Army paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. As a member for 41 years, Carl loved playing golf and cards with his buddies at Catawba Country Club. He served several times on the club's board. Carl was an avid sports fan of the N.Y. Giants, N.Y. Yankees and UNC-Carolina. The family wishes to say a special thanks to the Hospice care-givers, Noelle and Denise and friends, Julie Byrne and Pete Hyde.
