Carl Ray Harris, 69 of Hickory died Sunday, June 14th, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born July 12th, 1945, he was the son of the late Walter Ray Harris and Vera Mae Johnson Harris. He was a carpet installer for more than 42 years. The love that he had for his grandchildren, extended to all of whom he came in contact. He was a little league coach and mentor at St. Stephens Optimist Club and also respected in the St. Stephens Community. Since the age of six he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan that has continued with his family. His wife of 50 years, Judy Faye McDaniel Harris of the home; a daughter, Carla Harris Killian of Hickory; two sons, Kenneth Ray Harris of Hickory and Jason Anthony Harris and wife Leslie of Hickory; a sister, Wanda Helton of Hickory; nine grandchildren, Abbey Harris, Bailey Harris, Chloe Harris, Kirsten Tabet, Ryan Tabet, Kensi Harris, Molli Harris, Ella Pilkenton and Aniston Harris and a great grandson, Parker Tabet survive him. A sister, Mary Harris Larson preceded him in death. The funeral will be 5:00 pm Wednesday, June 17th, 2015 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stanley Mearse officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:30-5:00 pm Wednesday, June 17th, 2015 at Jenkins Funeral Home.
