Carl Heavener

Carl Henry Heavener 81, of Short Road, Hickory died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born March 1, 1929, he was the son of the late C.H. and Mary V. Herring Heavener. Carl was an U.S. Army Veteran in the 82nd Airborne division and worked with Helene Curtis Shampoo in Chicago for over 35 years. A son, Michael Heavener and wife Christine of Chicago, Illinois; three step-daughters, Nina Ezzell of Hickory, Linda Sutton and husband Alan of Woodstock, Georgia and Betty Edwards of Wilmington, NC; a sister, Eileen Lynn of Charlotte, NC; a grand-son, Jeffrey Heavener; and three step grand-children, Steven Cobb, Paul Sutton and Michael Cook survive him. His wife, Iva Mae Youker Heavener preceded him in death. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jerome Walker will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior, from 1- 2:00 p.m. December 23, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
