Carmel Burnside III, 53, of Hickory died Friday, April 29, 2022 at Carolina Caring. Born September 25th, 1968 he was the son of Carmel Burnside Jr. and Phyllis Burnside.
Carmel loved his family, friends and cat babies.
He wasn't a huge fan of large gatherings, but could sit outside on the porch or yard for hours with a small group of family and friends. He was good story teller and always enjoyed sharing a new joke or mental trick. One of his greatest pleasures was getting one over on you, (ZOOM!)
While growing up near Beckley, WV, Carmel was a part of the Big Blue Marble Association. They went to the National Marble Tournament several times and he continued to follow it because of the friendships he developed in those early years.
Keeping in touch with people that impacted his life was Carmel's gift. He understood and acknowledged those who came in and out of his life as valuable connections of his life experience.
Carmel enjoyed working on small engines and tinkering with all kinds of mechanical parts. He loved to show off his select coins and watch collection.
Carmel took pride in his accomplishments with renovating and maintaining hotels. He especially loved any chance he got using the big equipment at the site and teaching others his tricks to "Working smarter, not harder."
What will be missed the most of all is Carmel's big heart, his quick wit and knack for making up unique names that always made for a good time.
His wife, Pamela Pusteoska; his son, Casey Burnside (Renee) and their children, McKayla and Leland; his daughter, Candis Burnside (Miranda); three sisters, Rev. Tammy Pettry (David), Rev, Pamela Wallace (Darren) and Gwen Mohler and friend Chad and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive him.
His grandparents and his step-son, Anthony preceded him in death.
The family will have a gathering of friends from 12:00-2:00 P.M. on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Fresh Oil Ministries with Rev. Tammy Pettry officiating and burial will follow at Brookwood Cemetery. Services will be livestreamed from the Fresh Oil Ministries Facebook page.
