Carolyn Fulbright Miller, 72 of Hickory passed from this life into the kingdom of God on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Born December 2, 1941 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Junior and Lydia Emma Pearcy Fulbright. Carolyn was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hickory and later St. John's Lutheran Church in Conover. She graduated from Hildebran High School and earned her AB degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University, majoring in Business Administration and music with a concentration in organ. She retired from Corning Cable Systems after 34 years of service. Beginning at an early age, she served various parishes in the Unifour area as organist, the last appointment with St. John's Lutheran Church in Conover. She was a member of the American Guild of Organists and served on the Hickory Chapter board of directors. Her legacy is her daughter, Patricia Miller Lynch. Also surviving is son in law Rick Lynch and grand-son Brandon Lynch, all of Hickory; three sisters, Catherine Miller and husband John of Hickory, Phyllis Dameron of Hildebran and Reta Fox of Hickory; brother in law, Joe Miller of Hickory; sister in laws, Mary Frances Yount and husband Nolan of Hickory and Revonda Harris of Hickory; numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews survive her. Her husband of 49 years, Charles Franklin Miller; two brothers, Jack and Frank Fulbright; sister in laws, Helen Frye, Barbara Isenhour, Dorothy Reed, Evelyn Pitts, Jeanine Miller and Peggy Miller; brother in laws, Roscoe Reed, James Fox, Roland Wright, John Pitts Sr., and Harold Miller; and nephews, Perry Fulbright, Curtis Miller, Ralph Fulbright, David Harris and John Pitts, Jr. preceded her in death. A Celebration of Life Service will be 4:00 p.m, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Conover. Pastor Scott Johnson and Pastor Anton Lagoutine will officiate. The family will receive friends 2-3:45 p.m., Tuesday, at the church. Interment will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Church Cemetery, Zion Church Road in Hickory.
