Carrie Sue Brown, 90 of 23rd Avenue Place NE Hickory died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. Born August 16, 1920 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Miles Claude Bolick and Dorothea Barger Bolick. Carrie was a life-long member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. She was known to her grand-children as “the best Granny in the whole wide world.” A daughter, Nancy Fish and husband Harold of Newton; two grand-children, Jina Long and husband Quincy and Todd Childers and wife Ivy; and 5 great grand-children, Ashley Long, Aaron Long, Austin Childers, Payton Childers and Mason Childers survive her. In addition to her late husband, Ernest A. Brown; a sister, Mary Lou Flowers and a brother, Miles Claude Bolick Jr. preceded her in death. A Memorial Service will be 11:00, Friday, March 11, 2011 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Pastor Dave Keck will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior at 10:00 am at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
