Catherine Louise Hallman Cline, 96, of Vale passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at The Greens at Lincolnton after several days at Atrium Health Lincolnton. Born May 25th, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Hallman and Lillie Bell Leatherman Hallman of Vale.
Catherine was a high school graduate (Class of 1943) Blackburn High School. Her early work years included jobs at Ellis Hosiery Mill, and Little Coleman Company among others in the Hickory area. In the early 1960's, she made a career change to working for Vending Companies in Catawba County. She enjoyed the environment of catering and working for Vending Companies in Catawba County. She was active in her church, Messiah United Methodist Church of Vale, NC. She volunteered at the Soup Kitchen in Lincolnton after retirement and enjoyed going out to eat, site-seeing in the mountains, going to Daniel Boone Inn, going to John's River Valley Camp week with her daughter when she was able. Delighted with seeing and being surrounded by her church family, friends, and neighbors.
She is survived by her daughter Lealta Fulbright Smith of Newton, her son Robert Allen Cline, Sr. of Vale, her grandchildren Teresa Lea Smith of Greensboro, Sharon Lynn Smith of Canton, and Robert Allen Cline, Jr., five great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Carpenter Cline, her sister Ruby Hallman Kistler, her son Richard Calvin Cline, and her granddaughter Christina Cline Hill.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Friday, November 18th, 2022, at Messiah United Methodist, 4102 W. Hwy 27, Vale, NC 28168.
The funeral will be 2:00 PM Friday, November 18th, 2022, at Messiah United Methodist, 4102 W. Hwy 27, Vale, NC 28168 with Rev. James Mathews officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Methodist Cemetery.
