Remembering a Life Well Lived

Charisia "Reese" L. Bumgarner, 49, of Hickory entered into eternal rest Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Carolina Caring Hospice. Born Thursday, September 6th, 1973 she was the daughter of Dorothy Lackey and the late Burette "Bill" Lackey.

She is preceded in death by her father, Burette "Bill" Lackey, and mother-in-law, Ester B. Little.

Cherishing her life and memories are her husband of 28 years, Raymond Lamont Bumgarner of the home; son, Preston Lamont Bumgarner of Raleigh; daughter, Marissa Lachelle Bumgarner of Hickory; mother, Dorothy McCorkle Lackey of Newton; brother, Wayne McCorkle (Krista) of Hickory; sister, Marlene Lackey (Dean Byrd) of Newton; father-in-law Derrick Little; sisters-in-law, Shelly Little and Jessica Little; nephews, Aaron Lackey, Xavier Lackey, Morgan Brown, Jamir Walls, and RJ Ford; nieces, Brittany Lackey and Jevaeh Walls; great-nephew Jamir Lackey; great nieces, Zion Lackey, Kasey Lackey, and Olivia Brown; god-daughters Montasia McCullough and Amani Chloe; special sisters, Dr. Nicole Whitehead, Dr. Shawn Clemons, Dr. Shannon Clemons, and Mercedes Ikard; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, church members, and friends.

Charisia was a fighter: a fighter against cancer, a fighter for others, and a fighter for her faith and love. She documented part of her journey about her fight against cancer on her Facebook page and she always ended with the words, “Be encouraged. God Loves You.” Charisia “Reese” L. Bumgarner was truly an encourager of others and lived her life in such a way that it will continue to speak for generations to come.
