Charles Klutz

November 25, 1935 — February 18, 2012

Charles Ray Klutz, Sr., 76 of North Main Avenue, Newton died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born November 25, 1935 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Marvin Pemberton Klutz and Faye Catherine Carter Klutz. Charles was a member of North Newton Baptist Church and served as a Deacon on various committees. He was a member of the American Legion Post 16, an avid gardener and loved spending time with his grand children. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Charles was an American Red Cross, Member?s for Life Blood donor. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Mae Hildebrand Klutz of the home; a daughter, Kathy Lynn Platt of Newton; three sons, Charles ?Chuck? Ray Klutz, Jr. of Newton and daughter in law, Carol Sigmon of Claremont, Jerry Wayne Klutz and wife Judy of Conover and Alan Eugene Klutz and wife, Julie of Newton; a sister, Voncille Hilton of Hickory; a brother, Marvin Glenn Klutz and wife Mary of Mebane; 10 grand-children, Jesse, Melonie, Sarah, Jackie, Nicole, Joseph, Addison, Claudia, Austin and Chris; and two great grand-children, Maximus and Mason survive him. A brother, Johnny Klutz and a sister, Doris Pennell preceded him in death. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at North Newton Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Tom Early will officiate. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park with military graveside rites provided by the Marine Corps League. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the church. Memorials may be made to The American Red Cross PO Box 4002018, Des Moines, IA 50340-2018.
