Mr. Charles Franklin Miller, of Hickory, passed away on September 20, 2008. Born May 21, 1939 in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Loy Franklin and Zelda Hawn Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Reed, sister-in-laws Jeanine Miller, Peggy Miller, brother-in laws John Edward Pitts Sr., Roscoe Reed, Frank Fulbright, Jack Fulbright, James Fox, and nephews Perry Fulbright, David Harris, and Curtis Miller. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Fulbright Miller, of the home. His legacy is his daughter, Patricia Miller Lynch, her husband Rick Lynch, and grandson Brandon Lynch, all of Hickory. Also surviving are three brothers, Harold Miller of Conover, Joe Miller of Hickory, John Miller and wife Catherine of Hickory, five sisters, Helen Frye of Sacramento, California, Evelyn Pitts of Hickory, Mary Frances Yount and husband Nolan of Hickory, Revonda Harris of Hickory, Barbara Isenhour of Hickory, sister-in-laws Phyllis Dameron of Hildebran, Rita Fox of Hickory, and 26 nieces and nephews. He was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hickory, and served the congregation on various committees in church leadership. He graduated from Fred T. Foard High School in 1957. Through the years he operated a farm consisting of cattle, crops, and Quarter horses. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association since the 1960â??s. He retired from Sears, Roebuck and Company after 36 years of service in Sales. Later he was actively involved in real estate development. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 4:00 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hickory. The Rev. John Woodard and Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate. The family will receive friends at 3:00 at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family humbly requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Charlesâ?? memory to Zion Lutheran Church, 1911 Zion Church Road, Hickory, NC 28602. The Miller family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Jenkins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Newton, NC.
