Charles Wise

Charles “Wayne” Wise, age 85, formerly of Maiden, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 in Greensboro, NC. A graduate of Maiden High School, Wayne lived in Maiden for 80 years before moving to Greensboro approximately 5 years ago. He was a devoted and faithful member of Mays Chapel United Methodist Church for most of his life, and treasured the love and friendship that his church community so freely gave him.

Wayne was born on January 17, 1937 in Lincoln County to parents Charles Lester and Annie Reep Wise. He married his true love, Sharon Chambers Wise in 1962 and shared 55 happy years together, before her death in 2017. Wayne was a kind-hearted, sweet spirit, who loved his family and community. He enjoyed wood-working, gardening, and trips to the coast with his family. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Wise and Julie Amerson, both of Greensboro, son-in-law Charles Amerson, also of Greensboro, and sister Barbara Wise Gentry of Maryville, Tennessee.

Wayne’s life will forever be cherished by his family and friends.

A service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 4:00pm at Mays Chapel United Methodist Church in Maiden, NC. The family will receive visitors from 3:00-4:00pm in the sanctuary prior to the service.
