Clemencia Tobar

Clemencia Tobar, 78, of Newton, NC passed away Friday, November 17th, 2017 at Trinity Ridge Nursing Home. Born October 2nd, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Miguel Tobar and Leonor Ospina.
Clemencia was born in Bogotá Colombia and later moved to North Carolina. She was the matriarch of her large extended family.  She was a loving, strong willed woman who was always ready to welcome you. She will forever be remembered for her nurturing heart and her unfailing spirit of love and hospitality. As the matriarch, Clemencia lead by example, and she leaves us all with her legacy of opening our hearts and homes, just as she did.   She is survived by four children, a daughter Marcela Iriarte Tobar and husband Mickey Newton of Lucama NC, daughter Leonor Iriarte & husband Jaime Sarmiento of Villavicencio Colombia, daughter Magda Iriarte Reid and husband Rocky Reid of Taylorsville NC, Son Alvaro Iriarte Jr.(Pito) and wife Morgan Iriarte of Newton NC, 5 Siblings Silvia Tobar of Bogotá Colombia, Maria Elena Tobar & husband Jorje Torro of Newton NC, Octavio Tobar & wife Cecilia of Tampa Florida, Gerardo Tobar of Bogotá Colombia and Leonor del Pilar Tobar of Newton, 9 grandchildren Hannah, Isabel, Emilio, Victoria, Isaac, Adrian, Juan Lucas,Silas and Alana, 16 nieces & nephews including Maria Fernanda Baracaldo & daughters Lilliana, Ana Maria, and Vanesa of Newton NC, Jessica, Miguel Alberto, Octavio Andres & Carlos Tobar, Angelica and Diana Tobar of Florida as well as 30 grand nephews and nieces.  She is preceded in death by a son, Juan Carlos Iriarte and 6 siblings, Patricia Arevalo, Angela, Fernando, Ricardo, Marta and Eduardo Tobar.  A funeral mass is planned for Friday November 24th at St.Joseph Catholic Church in Newton NC. Fr. Ed Sheridan will be the officiant.  Receiving will be 9:00 am to 9:45; Mass will be 10:00am
