Clement Vechik

November 11, 1931 — February 2, 2019

Clement (Clem) Vechik 87 of Hickory passed away Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 at his home. Born Wednesday, November 11th, 1931 he was the son of Dominik and Annicia Trimod Vechik.  Clem served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and served in the Navy Reserves at the Navel Air Force Base in Long Beach, California. He lived in California for over 30 years where he retired from Trucking as a member of Western Teamsters Union. He moved to Hickory, NC in 1986 when he married Rebecca McFerrin Cunningham. Clem was known for having the greatest vegetable gardens and loved photography. He enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and being apart of a large family.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 32 years Becky McFerrin Vechik, a step daughter Patty Cook and husband Mike of Conover; step son Joe Harrison and wife Jackie of Conover; grandchildren Eric Goans and wife Kylie of Conover, Ashley Mull and husband Joey of Lincolnton, Angelina Fox and husband Dillon of Taylorsville, Holly Scronce of Conover, Zach Goans of Conover, Cliff Cook of Statesville, Cayden Harrison of Conover, Caysun Harrison; great grandchildren Raven Green, Bexley Fox, Jacob Cook, Kenzie Bortz and his extended neighborhood/family members Mark and Dianne Queen and Larry and Dana Justice.

In addition to his parents; his six sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Home Base Primary Care at Ashville V.A. Medical Center, Carolina Caring Hospice and caregivers Mary and Angie.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, February 7th, 2019 at New Vision Presbyterian Church in Conover with Pastor Dennis Stamper officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm-3:00 pm  Thursday, February 7th, 2019 at New Vision Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be made to New Vision Presbyterian Church at 502 Thornburg Dr. NE Conover NC 28613  or Carolina Caring at  3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658.
