Coleen Sain

Heaven’s music is surely sweeter today as our dear mother Coleen began singing and playing songs of praise to our Heavenly Father. She, no doubt, was joined by her dear sister Revonda Benfield Heavner, who has been awaiting her arrival. Familiar voices likely joined in singing; Horace, her beloved husband of 56 years, Tyler Lingerfelt, precious grandson, parents Ollen and Lecie Benfield, brothers Ralph and Harold Benfield, son in law Scott Travis. Those of us who remain eagerly await that glad reunion day when we too will meet to praise our Lord.

Coleen was born on July 9, 1936. She was an integral part of the Cooksville community, faithfully using her talents as a caregiver by providing daycare. “Memaw Coleen” will forever be lovingly remembered by the 300+ children for whom she cared. She served her Lord as the organist at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church for many years.

Coleen is survived by her sons Dale and wife Paula, Ricky and wife Sandy, daughters Peggy Lingerfelt, Nancy Banks and husband Max, and Cynthia Travis.

She cherished her grandchildren Benjamin and Jesse Sain, Matthew Sain and wife Sarah, Jordan Justice and husband Jacob, Hannah Lingerfelt, Sydney Travis, Jennifer Bunn and husband Daniel. Her legacy of love continues in her seventeen great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church, 5780 Wilkies Grove Church Rd, Hickory, NC 28602.

The funeral will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 31st, 2023 at Wilkies Grove Baptist Church, 5780 Wilkies Grove Church Rd, Hickory, NC 28602 with Pastor Thurman Roe officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
