Danny Keith Johnson, 66 of Hickory died Monday, August 22nd, 2016 at his residence. Born August 22nd, 1950 he was the son of the late Harrison Johnson and Verta Keck Johnson. He retired from General Electric after 30 years of service as an assembler, computer operator and dispatcher in the RSD department. In his earlier years, he was very involved in the school system and was known at Blackburn Elementary as "Mr. Mom." He played an instrumental role in the local Boy Scouts of America Troop. During his retirement Danny used his craftsmanship to design and remodel his kitchen. He also loved water sports, hiking, biking and mountain climbing. Danny loved the outdoors including camping, grilling and gardening. He also enjoyed spending time with his four sisters in law, Marie Crocker, Doreen Ciccone, Evelyn O'Connor and Trish Jacobs. His wife, Paula Johnson of Hickory; a son, Ethan Johnson of Hickory, a current student at NC State University majoring in Aerospace Engineering; four brothers, James (Jim) Johnson and wife Barbara of Hickory, Gary P. Johnson and wife Hippie of Hickory, Ricky A. Johnson and wife Patsy of Newton and Terry B. Johnson and wife Diane of Hickory; a sister, Gail Blackburn and husband Richard of Newton; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and his precious dog Ringo survive him. In addition to his parents, two sisters, Barbara A. Johnson and Katheryn J. Herman and a brother, Billy R. Johnson preceded him in death. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be 11:00 am Friday, August 26th, 2016 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with his brother,Terry Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am Friday, August 26th, 2016 at Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.
