Danny Matney

Danny Denver Matney, 79, of Kings Mountain passed away Wednesday, August 7th, 2024 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Born, May 26th, 1945 he was the son of the late Edward Matney and Ila Matney. He was an avid fisherman and camper. He was a baseball enthusiast, specifically for The Braves. He loved taking trips to the mountains with Diane by his side. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his significant other of 22 years, Diane Spencer; his children, Daniel Lee Matney, Tammy Matney Potts, Danna Wilson and her husband Chris Wilson, Darin Spencer, and Bethany S. Reel; his three sisters and two brothers; his 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Edward Matney and Ila Matney, he is preceded in death by his two brothers.

The family will receive friends 1-2PM Wednesday August 14th, 2024 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel located at 4081 Startown Rd, Newton, NC 28658. The Celebration of Life will be at 2PM followed by the burial at Jenkins Funeral Home Cemetery.
