Darin Baker Redfern 68 of Hickory died Monday, December 28, 2020 at his residence after a long battle with egolarium. Born Thursday, November 27th, 1952 he was the son of Dale Powell Redfern and Dreda Redfern. His illness was first diagnosed by his sister Dr. Diane Bennett when Darin was younger. The egolarium was compounded by issues with a bilateral lung transplant he received in 2019 and prostate cancer. Darin, founder and Director Emeritus of Granpoo U was still teaching at the time of his passing. Some notable grads from this esteemed Center for Life Learning are Taylor and Bailey McBride AJ, Kayla, and Matt Geck, whom graduated Magna Cum Laude. Other notable alumni are Raven & Slade Masson, Millie Bailey, Samara Munselle, Julia and Kris Caywood, just to name a few.
Darin is survived and hopefully remembered by his FABULOUS trophy wife Sheri Redfern of Hickory, NC, "the lovely Mrs. Redfern", brother Doug Redfern & sister Diane Bennett and their spouses, as well as six children; Janice and her husband David, Darla and her husband Richard, Mellissa and her husband Shawn, Danielle and her husband Tony, Rick and his wife Phyllis, Diana and her boyfriend Marc,14 grandchildren; Julia, Traylor, Kris, Bailey, Giovanni, Miller, AJ, Kayla, Raven, Deanna, Slade, Matt, Samara and Jeanette. One great grandchild Wesley and his soon to be sibling come 2021.
There will be no services as Darin would prefer all to remember him for his own brand of twisted humor/sarcasm and to think of him on occasion and smile. There he goes, and he's never coming back. He'll only return in your memory.
