David Chandler

David Lorenzo Chandler 77 of Hickory died Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at his residence. Born Wednesday, February 2nd, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland he was the son of the late Lorenzo Chandler and Maryetta Chandler. David was raised by his mother and paternal grandmother Hattie Lue Chandler Gaskins.

David received his formal education in the Baltimore city public school system and the Virginia public school system. He was employed by Allied Chemical in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania for over twenty years. He was very active in sports; football and racing cars. He also loved riding his Kawasaki and Suzuki motorcycles, and driving pick up trucks. Big Dave, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a tender hearted, kind, and loving person but could raise hell if the occasion called for it. He possessed such a warm and captivating smile that when you met him, you fell in love with him. You couldn't be sad in his presence. The support he gave others was genuine, warm, and assuring. David entered into holy matrimony with his second wife Regina Ann Johnson Chandler on the 28th day of December in the year of our Lord 1996.

Second wife Regina Ann Chandler of Hickory; three siblings Delores Bagwell of Philadelphia, PA, James Hilton and spouse Wade Hilton, Deborah Kutch and spouse Claudette Reed; four brothers-in-law Tyrone Kutch of Baltimore, MD, Andrew Peurifoy, Rafael Parrilla, and Stanley Dunlap; six sisters-in-law Carole Johnson of Haddonfield, NJ, Beverly Peurifoy of Washington Township, NJ, Angeline Dozier of Florida, Judith Parrilla of Philadelphia, PA, Linda Johnson of Gloucester, NJ, and Jill Dunlap of Sicklerville, NJ; Beloved aunt Naomi Harris; four grandchildren Dashawn Chandler, Amber Chandler, Ashley Chandler, Dayonna Chandler; four great grandchildren Rowan, Milan, Dylan, Londan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends survive him.

First wife Ada Maxine Chandler; son Jeffrey Chandler; parents Lorenzo and Maryetta Chandler; and grandparents David and Jennie Williams, Hattie Lue Chandler Gaskins preceded him in death.

A Celebration of life will be held at 1:00-3:00PM Saturday July 17th, 2021 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11:00AM-1:00PM Saturday July 17th, 2021 at Jenkins Funeral Home Celebration Center.
