David Harvey

David Timmons Harvey, Sr., of Newton, NC, passed away July 31, 2023 in his home, surrounded by loved ones. Born June 16, 1942 in Elkton, Maryland, he was the son of the late Hugh and Charlene Long Harvey of Elkton, Maryland.

Dave was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church in Catawba, NC for over forty years. He was the 13th of 14 children and graduated from Elkton High School in Elkton, Maryland. He was a proud Marine Corp Veteran and he served from 1961 - 1965. His rank was Sergeant Drill Instructor. Dave was the owner of Harvey Horse Shoeing & Blacksmith and he was known for the metal crosses and metal artwork that he would craft.

He is survived by his daughter Kim Harvey Sigmon (John) of Newton, his son David Timmons Harvey, Jr., of Newton, his daughter Georgiana "Missy" Cummings (Mark) of Oakridge, TN, grandson Christopher Cummings, great-granddaughters Addalyn and River, granddaughter Morgan Cummings, great-granddaughter Avery, his son Gabriel Harvey (Michelle) of Earlville, MD, granddaughter Savanna Harvey, grandson Hayden Harvey, his daughter Tammy Sumner (Rick) of Magnolia, DE, his granddaughter Madison Sumner, and his grandson Peyton Sumner.

He is survived by his first wife Georgianna Harvey of Elkton, MD. He was preceded in death by his second wife Ann Speakman of Elkton, MD and his third wife Shirley Wilkinson Harvey of Maiden, NC.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 PM Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Pisgah United Methodist Church, 4950 Little Mountain Road, Catawba NC 28609.

The funeral will be 3:00 PM Sunday, August 6, 2023 Pisgah United Methodist Church with Reverend David Hawkins and Reverend Buddy Compton officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
