David Whisnant

David Monroe Whisnant, Jr., 81, of Conover passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist surrounded by family. Born July 29th, 1941 he was the son of the late David Monroe Whisnant, Sr., and Odessa Gantt Whisnant.

He worked at Century Furniture for over 35 years. He was an active member of Friendship United Methodist Church and was involved in Backpacks For Kids and American Red Cross Blood Drives.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Whisnant of Conover, his sons Eric Whisnant and his wife Jackie of Hickory and Douglas Whisnant and his wife Rosanna of Taylorsville, his daughters Jennifer Munday and her husband Matthew of Lincolnton and Tracy Lamonds and husband Kevin of Mt. Gilead, his sister Malinda Leatherman and her husband Philip of Hickory, his brother Robert Whisnant and his wife Caroline of Newton, his thirteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Thursday, May 4th, 2023 at Friendship United Methodist Church located at 2900 Hwy 16 South, Newton, NC 28658.

A memorial service will be held 3:30 PM Thursday, May 4th, 2023 at Friendship United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, Backpacks for Kids Foundation, or the American Red Cross.
