Delores Hanks

Delores Ford Hanks, 76, of Conover NC passed away Friday March 27th, 2020 at 3:34 AM at Catawba Memorial Hospital in Hickory, NC. Born May 28, 1943, in Carbondale WV, she was the daughter of Cordy and Rille Ford. When she was a baby they moved to the farm on Ben Mtn. in Speedway, WV. She moved to Houston, TX at a young age where she met the love of her life and husband Johnny Hanks. They resided in Houston for 25 years then moved to Florida, then settled in Hickory NC until present time.
She attended church her whole life and was a faithful member of Hickory First Assembly of God for 20 years until her health declined.
She was a caring and loving wife, great mother, and devoted Christian woman.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Johnny Hanks of the home; three daughters Delora Ree Baily and husband Vance of Princeton WV, Christine H. Wolfe and husband Michael of Hickory NC, and Cheryl Ann Taylor and husband Eddie of Lincolnton NC; one son Warren Steve Young of Richmond VA; 2 stepsons Brian Keith Hanks of Asheville NC and Russel Paul Hanks of Houston TX; one sister Thelma Reed; two brothers Johnny Walls and Luther Ford; eight grandchildren Jared Baily, Brandon Baily, Caleb Baily, Brandilyn Hanks, Kelend Hanks, Kaley Wolfe, Chloe Wolfe, L.B. Rankin; and 15 Great-Grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one sister Pearl Bird; and five brothers Charlie Panell, Harvey Walls, Roy Ford, Jim Ford, and Bill Ford.
The family will hold a private Graveside Service at Athens Cemetery in Athens, WV with Rev. David Damewood officiating.
