Delzie Williams

Delzie Virginia Richards Williams, 88, of Hickory died August 28, 2022, at Brian Center. Born August 21, 1934 she was the daughter of Al and Lucy Richards.

Delzie was a loyal and devoted wife. Her passion was clogging to bluegrass music and traveling to new places. She loved her church family and putting smiles on everyone's face. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters Jeannie Elmore and husband Rev. Edwin Elmore of Granite Falls, Melissa Shondelmyer and husband Mike Shondelmyer of Hickory, grandchildren Cheree (Brian) Gragg, Eric Elmore, Amanda Shondelmyer, Mallory Sanford, and Alexis Shondelmyer, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years Lester Paul Williams, her son, Charles Dean Wagoner, her grandson, Craig Lynn Bruce, Jr., and three brothers and three sisters.

The funeral will be 2:00 PM Friday, September 2, 2022, at Jenkins Funeral Home with Pastor Hooks, Pastor Odom, and Rev. Elmore officiating. Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM Friday, September 2, 2022, at Jenkins Funeral Home Celebration Center.

Pallbearers will be Brian Gragg, Amanda Shondelmyer, Eric Elmore, and Lee Ramsey.

In honor of Alzheimer's Awareness, the family requests that those attending the service incorporate the color purple into their attire.
