Dennis Bumgarner

Dennis Theodore Bumgarner, of N.C. Hwy 10 West, Newton died Friday, October 8, 2010 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born, March 25, 1954, he was the son of the late Ray Theodore Bumgarner & Pansy Nadine Sigmon Bumgarner. Dennis was Chief of the Startown Volunteer Fire Department for many years, sang in the church choir and was on the Church Administrative Board of Crowell U.M.C. He was a loving husband, father, Papaw, neighbor and friend. Dennis was small in stature but had a tremendous heart. Two daughters, Deanne & Todd Morrow of Taylorsville, Sonya & Shawn Hartley of Lenoir; a sister, Diana Rae Winters of Granite Falls; a brother, Franklin James Bumgarner of Newton; numerous nieces & nephews and four grand-children, Heidi Deanne Morrow, Nicole Suzanne Morrow, Cody Michael Hartley and Taylor Nicol Hartley survive him. In addition to his wife, Sandra Cody Bumgarner; two grand-children, Makayla Deandrea McCann, MaKenzie Deanne McCann; two brothers, Daniel N. Bumgarner & Gary Lynn Bumgarner preceded him in death. A Celebration of Dennis’s Life will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Crowell United Methodist Church in Lincolnton. Pastor Steve Porter will officiate. Burial will follow at Crowell U.M. Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church. Memorials may be made; Crowell U.M.C. Building Fund 4018 Killian Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
