Devin Wayne Luther, 18, of Harmony, NC died Tuesday March 31, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was the son of David Wayne Luther, Jr and Rhonda Jackson Luther. Devin was preceded in death by both parents and brother, Darrion Wayne Luther. He is survived by his grandmother, Anita Williams, aunt Danielle Williams of the home, aunt Becky Hartline (Paul) of Statesville, great grandmother, Evalene Welborn of Harmony, NC and uncle Tim Welborn (Tracy) of Shelby, NC.
Devin was loved by all who met him, the most loving child you could ever meet. He never met a stranger. One smile from him would melt your heart. He loved family gatherings and being able to visit with everybody. After all of the hardships, all the medical issues and procedures he had to endure, he always looked at the world and life through rose colored glasses. He never lost his joy in the simple things, like cartoons, Frozen, chocolate ice cream and his best friends Ellie and Copper, who were by his side until the end. Some of his favorite things to do in the last few months were coloring on his tablet, watching cartoons, and playing Yahtzee with his nurse, Laura Goins.
Although he will be missed greatly, we can rejoice that he is pain free and is with his Momma, Daddy and Brother that he has missed everyday since they were gone. Fly high baby boy, until we meet again.
The family would like to thank all the nurses at Bayada Home Health Care and Mountain Valley Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Devin this past year. Also want to thank the Complex Care Team at Duke University Hospital, with a special thanks to Dr. Gary Maslow, and all of the associated staff for the extraordinary care and support that they provided for the last 15 years. We couldn’t have done it without you.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
