Devon Abernathy

Devon Hunter Abernathy, 20, of Connelly Springs died Saturday, September 21, 2019 at his home. Born, September 18th, 1999 he was the son of Tommy Ray Abernathy Jr. and Allison Fowler Abernathy. Devon was a 2017 graduate of East Burke High-school. He was employed by Performance Food Group formally IFH of Hickory.  Devon was kind and caring and deeply loved family and friends. He loved to laugh, loved to make others laugh, and would go above and beyond to help or support others. He spent most of his free time supporting his Dallas Cowboys, fishing, working on cars, and just hanging with his "brothers".

In addition to his parents; a sister Rachel Abernathy of the home; his brother Corey Abernathy of Lenior; long time girl friend Ashley Cline of Hildebran; maternal grandparents Jack and Marilyn Fowler of Conover; and paternal grandparents Wayne and Linda Deitz of Newton survive him.

Maternal Grandmother Dorothy A. Barbie and husband Steve of Princeton, NC; and paternal Grandfather Tommy Ray Abernathy Sr. preceded him in death.

The funeral will be 4:00 pm Thursday, September 26th, 2019 at Old St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor. Robert Sain officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm Wednesday, September 25th, 2019 at Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.
