Diane Getz (née Croy) passed away at age 63 on Monday, January 23, 2022 at her home in Hickory, North Carolina.
Diana was born August of 1959, to Jackie and Delphine Croy in Fort Walton Beach, FL. She grew close to her siblings Dave, Mike, Linda, and Steve in their loving Dayton, Ohio home. After moving to Pasadena Lakes outside of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Diana played the flute in Cooper City High School's marching band. While she originally aspired to become a veterinarian when she was young raising black labs, Diana met Diann Mahoney of Orlando College, who encouraged her to go back to school to get a degree. She graduated from Orlando College as a Registered Medical Assistant and began her medical career working in various doctor offices. She then went back to work in the banking sector. A while later she worked part-time as a paramedical examiner, eventually working full time as a sub-contractor. She lived in Florida much of her life, where she had her son John in her first marriage. In February of 1988, she met her current husband Keith Getz, and welcomed his son Kyle into her family. Their daughter Mikel was born into their loving Orlando home in 1991. The family collectively grew a deep love of primitive camping and canoeing throughout Florida’s picturesque rivers. In 2005, Diana and Keith further realized their lifelong love for nature and the mountains and moved to Hickory, North Carolina. She was in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains, which she and Keith religiously visited every weekend during the fall colors with picnics and their dogs. She actively cultivated a life of love, unconditionally and unselfishly. Anyone who knew her, knew that they were a part of her family.
Diana is survived by her husband Keith Getz, her son John Mastrodonato, her daughter Mikel Getz, and her son Kyle Gekopi & his husband Bradley Gekopi. She is also survived by her brother David Croy of Aquia Harbor, Virginia, his children Andrew Croy, Kevin Croy, & Brian Croy, her sister Linda Croy of Orlando, Florida, her brother Steven Croy of Jacksonville, FL, and his children Justin Croy & Brandon Croy.
A significant lover of animals, Diana is survived by her “fur babies”, canines Sadie, Callie, & Star and felines Calvin, Meiko, Poco, Zulu, & Mr. Cat.
Diana joins her father Jackie Croy, mother Delphine Croy, brother Michael Croy, cousins Donna & Theresa Cardone, along with her lifelong friends Diann Mahoney and Kathleen Hedlund, in God’s welcoming arms.
