Diane Hughey

Sarah "Diane" Hughey, 78, of Conover, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Pinecrest following a courageous battle with Leukemia. Born November 10th, 1943 she was the daughter of the late Fred Hubert Hughey and Irene Daisy Rudisill Hughey. Diane was a Customer Service Representative in the trucking industry her entire career until she retired. She also served as organist at Augustana Lutheran Church for many years until her illness made it difficult to continue. Diane loved to spend her time reading, writing, cooking and shopping as well as decorating for every Holiday.

Surviving Diane's passing include her; son, Kim Mitchell (wife Marilyn); daughters, Stephanie Holman (husband Ronnie) Angela Gantt (husband Michael) and Shannon Keil (husband Matt); grandchildren, Caitlin Munn (husband Garyn), Natalie Cook, Kyle Yoder, Ally Alexander (husband Drew), Camryn Gantt (fiancee Caleb), Abigail Gantt, Anna Gantt, Camilla Keil and Samuel Keil; great-granddaughters, Brystol Munn expected in March, Paisley Cook and Cora Cook. More relatives cherishing her memory includes Diane's brother Steve Hughey and wife Grace as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins; and, last but not least, her sweet fur baby Bogie who was her pride and joy.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her special friend Millard "Gene" Gibson.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Jenkins Funeral Home with Pastor Gaven Mize officiating. A receiving of friends and extended family will be held an hour prior to the service, from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM, at Jenkins Funeral Home. Following the service a private burial will take place at Augustana Lutheran Church for the family.
