Dixie Hoke Little, 69, of Conover-Startown Hwy, passed away on March 19, 2009 from a 15 year long battle with Alzheimerâ??s disease. Born September 7, 1939, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Loyd and Frankie Hoke. Mrs. Little was a retired seamstress and also a very gifted, creative person. Ms. Little was a faithful member of Old St. Paulâ??s Lutheran Church in Newton. She served her Lord by utilizing her creativity as a ministry to many people. Ms. Little is survived by her husband, Percy Dale Little of Newton, to whom she was happily married for 48 years. Two brothers, Loyd Hoke Jr. and wife Sylvia, Johnny Jack Hoke and wife Gaye; two sisters, Charlene Moore and husband Harold, Revonda Morrow and husband Arnie all of Conover; a son, Tim Little and wife Debby of Newton; a daughter, Robbin Little Bass and husband Roger Bass of Newton; a step-grandchild Tabby Coulbourn and husband Eric; four grandchildren Kat Little, Jeb Bass, Dale Bass and Jackson Bass of Newton; two step-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews survive her. A celebration of Dixieâ??s life will be 3:00 pm Sunday at Old St. Paulâ??s Lutheran Church in Newton with Pastor Paul Christ officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:15-2:45 pm in the church family life center. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658 or to Old St. Paulâ??s Lutheran Church of Newton or to the Bradford and Dora Settlemyre Endowment Fund (for maintenance of the historic Old St. Paulâ??s Church and Cemetery) by contacting Larry Kiziah at 828-428-0558, or email to hallberg@elca.org.
